The Superior Wood Treatment
Superior Painting Companyfs 3 step Process for the best wood protection.
Step 1: Wood Prep
Superior Painting Company begins by preparing the wood for staining by first applying a solution of TSP, bleach and water before washing the surface with a high powered water pressure washer.
TSP (Trisodium Phospate) breaks down the mold, mildew, dirt and bacteria at a chemical level for easy removal, while bleach helps remove stains and whitens the wood for a rich color after staining. Proper power washing of the wood surface is important in not leaving any lines, uneven coloring, whitening the wood, and removing chemicals applied.
We allow the wood to dry and settle to within the recommended temperature for a perfect finish once finished.
Step 2: Protection from the inside
Before applying the first coat of stain, we sand any rough areas and again check to make sure the surface is clean. The stain is then applied carefully and evenly with a brush (never by spraying). You may notice some areas to look richer in color due to the uneven absorption of the stain by the wood in areas where it is needed more.? This is normal and will be corrected later.
The first coat of stain is quickly absorbed and protects the wood from the inside, preventing water from penetrating and causing any cracking or rotting.? A dull natural color begins to emerge and reveals the beautiful patterns in the wood. We allow the stain to dry for at least one day.
Step 3: Protection from the outside
After once again removing any dirt, branches etc., from the surface and checking for trouble spots, we begin to evenly apply the second coat of stain.
This time the stain mostly sits on top of the surface and will protect the wood from the outside by not allowing water to penetrate while providing a beautiful shiny finish. |
